ABOUT MESSY CHURCH

Messy Church starts with a selection of different activities centred around the month’s theme – craft, games, prayer activities.

At around 5:30pm we all gather together for a short celebration service with a couple of lively worship songs, a short talk and a prayer. We then finish with a bring and share tea and a chance to talk.

In January 2017, we looked at the Parable of the Pearl.

In June 2016, we looked at The Lord’s Prayer.

In May 2016, we looked at The Fruits of The Spirit.

In March 2016, we looked at Mothers’ and God’s love.

In February 2016, we looked at the Last Supper.

In December 2015, we celebrated a Messy Christmas.

In November, we had a Rugby World Cup themed light party where we played rugby themed games and we thought about how we can be part of Jesus’ team and shine His light into the world.

In October, our theme was “Escape!” – the story of Moses leading the Israelites’ escape from slavery in Egypt and the Egyptian army who tried to chase them out and the parting of the Red Sea. (Exodus 14: 5-29).  We also celebrated Messy Church’s 1st birthday.

In September, there was no Messy Church but we had a Messy fun day at Great Notley park.

In July, we looked at God’s Healing Power.

In June, we celebrated the birthday of the Church at Pentecost.

In May, we looked at and celebrated the wonderful world around us.

In April, we met on Good Friday morning and explored the wonderful Easter story through our crafts and activities and then thought more about the events leading up to Easter in our celebration time.

In March our theme was the Healing of Bartimaeus.

In February our theme was “Temptation” and we looked at the story of how Jesus was tempted in the desert. (Matthew 4: 1-11).

Messy Church is for all – young or old. We look forward to seeing you.
