This means we have a proper system and trusted partners so that you can be a volunteer offering space in your home, food, language, transport, finance and many other things, confident that your efforts are part of a local “big picture” and support will be available to you the whole time.
We are working alongside Citizens UK, a charity which has experience of receiving refugees and matching them with UK hosts and helpers.

Lots of us think that; and we can help you! Christ Church is a “Host Parish” for Ukrainian Refugees. This means we have a proper system and trusted partners so that you can be a volunteer offering space in your home, or food, language, transport, finance and many other things, confident that your efforts are part of a local “big picture” with trusted partners.
“How does this work?”
Christ Church is part of the Chelmsford area (Diocese) of the Church of England.
The Chelmsford Diocese has formed a partnership with Citizens UK, a charity which has experience of receiving refugees and matching them with UK hosts and helpers. Christ Church now has a group of hosts and a support team in place, and is part of the Chelmsford Diocese arrangement for Ukrainian Refugees. This means we have the ongoing support of experienced specialists not only in placing refugees, but in helping to meet their needs in the coming months.

“I’m not a Church person though”
That’s fine! Whether you are a person of faith or not, we would be really glad to work together with you to make a difference to some of the lives affected by the terrible violence that is continuing in Ukraine.
“I’d like to know more, and maybe volunteer”
Christ Church is accommodating one family who will be arriving soon. We expect to host two or three more families. We would love to have more hosts, and more volunteers to help with the many needs that refugee families will have.
